The holes were created by hundreds of hours of grinding of acorns, by the women, to make porridge and breads. The church was dedicated on June 5, 1988. Plans were already in mind for a retirement home.

Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church Children's Center opened in 1989, providing day care, preschool and after-school programs. Also in 1989, Calvary Christian Counseling opened. In 2002 an education building was constructed adjacent to the church. In 1997 the church donated fifteen acres of land for a future retirement home. In October of 2002, Country Crest Retirement Center was opened with apartments for seniors: the health center opened its doors in April of 2003. By now the Calvary Christian Counseling Center was no longer available. A call was made to, and accepted by, Reverend Mark Rabe, in March 2001. Pastor Rabe served until 2009. Reverend Mason served as interim pastor until late 2011.

In November 2011, Rev. Douglas R. Williams accepted the divine call to pastor Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church and preach the Gospel of forgiveness in Oroville, California. The joy of the Lord is our strength! The Children's Center is now independently owned and operates out of the church facilities. Pastor Douglas Williams answered the Lords call on December 21, 2016.
